In the autumn 98 the Leeward was chartered out to a travelling company to go on cruise out from Alexandria south of Washington, and the company had to pay NCL an extra amount for going up the ground and muddy fjord up to Alexandria.
We had to go in and out while there was high water or helse we would be grounded. (see: Leeward on repair yard)
First there was 5 days cruises to Bermuda - Hamilton and Fisherman`s wharf. and cruises to Nowwhere.
after that we had 2 -14 days cruises up the east coast and to Canada, in the St. Lawrence river all the way to Montreal.
We arrived many small and big places: Bar harbour, Cape cod, Provinstown,
Canada: Sydney, Halifax, Quebec and Montreal where we turned..
The average age was much higher on this cruises so it was more quiet on bord.
Her is the view from the pir in Alexandria: Washington with the capitol hill.
We got some time to se the city: White house etc.and space museum.
Her is the Leeward in Hamilton - Bermuda. And there is very nice beaches with lagunes and one night we had a beach party in one of this lagunes.
In cap cod (new England) We had to sail thru a channel. I took this picture of the tv in the cabin. We had a camera on the bridge and we could see it on the cabin tv in "bridge wiew".
This bridge was a railroad bridge that was hoisted up, but I was tired so i tok picture of the tv instad of going up in the wind.
Picture to the right: Bar harbour: A little idyllic place where there was a lot of lobster.
Qebec is an idyllic city, the castle is a hotell....... Leeward with quay in Quebec in the St. Lawrence river.
Montreal is a pulsing city and with a high tide difference.
This is also a picture from the cabin tv.
On the way down to Miami we stop by ft. Laudedale and we was on a guidet tour at the Kennedy air space center. It was very cool to enter a space ship.
After the charter cruise we was supposed to visit Miami first before we headed for the repair yard.
But because of the Hurricane George we had to sail to Freeport -Bahamas and after a few days we sailed directly to the shipyard that was located in Mobile - Alabama.
Wher we had to wait outside the coast together with many other (cargo) ships almost one week because of the hurricane and the damaged a shore.
In fact that we had the ship all by our selves we used that opportunity.
A nice seafood restaurant in Freeport with shark feeding.
Here we have a Jacuzzi party on the aft deck. After one week with waiting with jacuzzi/grill parties the ship was almost emty of beverages.
